Amul Protein Water Review (2026): Price, Protein and How It Compares
Oct 25, 2026 · Team SWÆT
Amul Protein Water is a 250 ml can with 10 g of whey protein isolate, 40 calories, zero sugar and sucralose as the sweetener. In October 2026 the only in-stock listing we found was an Amazon 3-pack at ₹357, about ₹119 a can. Among the four waters compared below, it is the cheapest per can and the lowest in protein.
A disclosure first: this is the journal of SWÆT (SWAET) protein water, a competing brand. Every figure below is from label text, a live listing or a linked source, so you can check our working.
What is Amul Protein Water?
Amul Protein Water is a non-carbonated, water-based whey drink from Amul, launched on 3 June 2025. The product on sale in 2026 is a 250 ml tin can with 10 g of whey protein isolate, 40 calories, zero fat and zero sugar, in Lychee, Mojito and Mixed Berries flavours. It is made by Amul Dairy at Anand.
One thing to clear up. Launch coverage in June 2025 described a 500 ml bottle (Food Tech Network, 2025). Every label-derived source since, including the nutrition text on Amazon.in (2026), shows a 250 ml can with 10 g a can, and the pack weights agree. We treat the can as the real product and the bottle as an early reporting error, unless Amul says otherwise.
The manufacturer on the listing is Kaira District Cooperative Milk Producers Union Limited, better known as Amul Dairy, Anand (Amazon.in, 2026).
What does Amul Protein Water cost and where can you buy it?
On 25 October 2026 the only in-stock listing we could find was an assorted 3-pack of 250 ml cans on Amazon.in at ₹357, which works out to ₹119 a can. We could not verify a printed MRP, the product is not listed on shop.amul.com, and the Lychee 2-pack and Mixed Berries 6-pack were both unavailable.
The ₹357 listing (Amazon.in, 2026) shows no strike-through MRP, so ₹119 is a seller's price, not Amul's. The launch announcement said the drink would be sold exclusively on shop.amul.com (Business of Food, 2025), but the store's 23-product Protein category and a search for "protein water" (shop.amul.com, 2026) returned milkshakes, lassi and whey sachets, and no protein water in any flavour.
Trade listings show the floor. On IndiaMART (2026) a Jaipur distributor quotes ₹73.26 a can by the case of 24, and a Jamnagar seller ₹70. Those are B2B asks, not counter prices, but a ₹46 gap between trade and Amazon means retail prices will vary by seller. Quick-commerce apps are location-gated, so we could not confirm Blinkit, Zepto or Instamart stock either way, and we found no Amul parlour price to quote.
How much protein is in Amul Protein Water, and is 10 g enough?
Each 250 ml can has 10 g of whey protein isolate, which is 4 g per 100 ml, with 40 calories. Against the ICMR-NIN 2020 reference of 54 g a day for an adult man and 45.7 g for an adult woman, one can covers roughly 18 to 22 percent. It is a top-up, not a full protein serve.
The per-100 ml figures (16 kcal, 4 g protein, 0 g sugar, 0 g fat, 15 mg sodium) come from the label transcription on Open Food Facts (2026), which is user-contributed; it agrees with the Amazon listing text on protein and sugar. The reference intakes are from the ICMR-NIN brief note (2020), which also advises 1 g per kg a day for people on cereal-heavy diets.
Now the arithmetic. At ₹119 a can, 10 g of protein costs ₹11.90 a gram. SWÆT at ₹200 for 24 g is ₹8.33 a gram, Not Rocket Science at ₹199 for 22 g is ₹9.05, and Aquatein at ₹129 for 18 g is ₹7.17. The small can has the lowest sticker price and the highest cost per gram of protein of the four. If you need 20 g in one sitting, two cans cost ₹238, more than any of the three 500 ml bottles, for less protein than two of them.
What are the ingredients in Amul Protein Water, and what is the sweetener?
The label lists water, whey protein isolate, acidity regulator (330), preservatives (202 and 211), sucralose, natural and nature-identical flavouring, and colour (122). In plain terms: the protein is whey isolate, the sweetener is sucralose, the preservatives are potassium sorbate and sodium benzoate, the colour is carmoisine. Nothing is undeclared; counting water and both preservatives, that is eight items.
The ingredient string is identical on the Lychee, Mixed Berries and assorted listings (Amazon.in, 2026). Two warnings about secondary sources. One IndiaMART listing says the drink is free from artificial sweeteners, and another gives 90 calories and 10 g of sugar a can; both contradict the label. The Open Food Facts entry omits the sucralose and the colour. If you are checking for sucralose, read the can.
On lactose: the launch coverage called the drink lactose-free. The label text we saw prints no lactose figure, so treat that as Amul's claim, not ours. Whey isolate is a milk protein, so it contains milk either way.
For contrast, SWÆT has five ingredients: whey protein isolate, citric acid, nature-identical flavour, monk fruit and sodium benzoate. No colour, no sucralose. Monk fruit has held FDA GRAS status since 2010. The full breakdown is on our ingredients page.
Who is Amul Protein Water right for?
Amul Protein Water suits someone who wants a small, 40-calorie protein top-up at the lowest price per can, trusts the Amul name, and does not mind sucralose or added colour. It is the wrong pick if you want 20 g or more in one serve, or if you avoid artificial sweeteners and synthetic colours.
- Good fit: a mid-afternoon or post-walk drink when 24 g feels like too much; a first try of the category without spending ₹200; anyone who prefers a can.
- Weak fit: a post-gym serve, where 10 g means a second can and ₹238 for 20 g; anyone who wants a short label or avoids sucralose and colour 122.
How does Amul Protein Water compare with Aquatein, Not Rocket Science and SWÆT?
Per serve, SWÆT has the most protein at 24 g per 500 ml, then Not Rocket Science at 22 g, Aquatein at 18 g, and Amul at 10 g per 250 ml. Per can or bottle, Amul is cheapest at about ₹119, then Aquatein ₹129, Not Rocket Science ₹199 and SWÆT ₹200. Per gram of protein, Aquatein is cheapest.
| Brand | Protein per serve | Serve size | Calories per serve | Price per serve | Cost per g protein | Sweetener | Protein source |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Amul Protein Water | 10 g | 250 ml can | 40 kcal | ₹119 (Amazon 3-pack, October 2026; no verified MRP) | ₹11.90 | Sucralose | Whey protein isolate |
| Aquatein Protein Water | 18 g | 500 ml bottle | 78 kcal | ₹129 MRP | ₹7.17 | Sucralose (955) | Pea and rice protein isolate |
| Not Rocket Science | 22 g | 500 ml bottle | 115 kcal (Lemon Lime) | ₹199 (₹159.20 a bottle in a 24-pack) | ₹9.05 | Erythritol and steviol glycosides | Whey protein isolate |
| SWÆT | 24 g | 500 ml bottle | 96 kcal | ₹200 MRP (₹160 a bottle in a 12-pack) | ₹8.33 | Monk fruit | Whey protein isolate |
Notes on the table. Aquatein's own-store product is now the 18 g pea and rice bottle at ₹129 (aquatein.com, 2026); its older whey line, Aquatein Pro 21 g, has left the brand's product feed but still shows on Tata 1mg (2026) at an MRP of ₹133.47, also with sucralose. Not Rocket Science's calories run from 107 to 115 kcal by flavour (FoodTechBiz, 2026); its 24-pack brings the bottle to ₹159.20 (notrocketscience.in, 2026). SWÆT's pack discounts are 10 percent at 3 bottles, 15 at 6 and 20 at 12.
Per 100 ml the order shifts: SWÆT 4.8 g, Not Rocket Science 4.4 g, Amul 4.0 g, Aquatein 3.6 g. Amul's can is more concentrated than Aquatein's bottle, just half the size. On sweeteners, Amul and Aquatein use sucralose, Not Rocket Science uses erythritol with steviol glycosides, and SWÆT uses monk fruit. Amul and Aquatein both list added colour; Not Rocket Science and SWÆT do not.
Is Amul Protein Water worth buying?
Yes, if you want a cheap, light 10 g can from a brand you trust and can find in stock. Amul wins on price per can and on name recognition. SWÆT costs more at ₹200. Its case is 24 g per 500 ml, the most protein of the 500 ml protein waters we checked, and a five-ingredient label.
Where each one wins, plainly. On the price of a single serve, Amul. On reach, Amul in principle, though on the day we checked the online stock was one Amazon pack. On protein per rupee, Aquatein, at ₹7.17 a gram against SWÆT's ₹8.33. On protein per bottle and on the shortest ingredient list, SWÆT.
